Welcome to Our Family Farm
Grass Fed Beef, Raised Naturally from Farm to Table

Corn Maze & Pick Your Own Pumpkins

As Winter marches on and Spring approaches we continue our daily chores of feeding and tending our cattle. Although the winter has been harsh the animals are thriving and doing well. Spring calving will begin soon with an estimated 30 new arrivals on the farm. It's always fun to watch the new babies out in the fields as they run and play with the others.

Spring brings new growth and new ideas for every farmer. How much will be plant and harvest this year? What will the season be like? We are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Life on a farm is not easy but it is not one we would ever want to change either. We love our farm and hope that when you stop you can take a few moments to enjoy it too.

     Continuing Education

Michael Austin  ( herd manager ) and Jim Austin ( son) recently attended the Graham School for Cattlemen in Kanas. While at the Graham School they had the opportunity to have classroom and hands on involvement with herd management. During class time  they discussed diagnosing pregnancy, artifical insemination, calf delivery and herd management.

Through open discussion they learned reproductive anatomy, locating the reproductive organs,  stages of pregnancy and live animal evaluation. Progressing through the week with hands on clinics they were given information on nutritional cycling of cows, proper time of insemination, handling of semen, and placement of semen in the reproductive tract. Michael and Jim are now both fully trained A.I. technicians.

The underlying message throughout the week long session of herd management  is practicality and common sense. Continuing education is an investment in our herd. We strive for optimal healthy management for our herd to bring you the best cattle Austin Farm can offer.
